Do’s and Don’t’s of Healthy Hair Care for Blondes

Even though Studio 71 Hair Salon uses top-of-the-line back bar products to protect your hair during chemical lightening services, the truth is that lightening your hair, or any chemical service for that matter, is still inherently damage to your hair. For that reason, please follow these helpful tips to ensure that your blonde stays vibrant, shiny, strong and beautiful after your service.

Do go as long as possible without washing your hair after your first service.

Don’t go to bed with wet hair.

Do wear a bonnet to sleep.

Don’t sleep with a ponytail in.

Do sleep with braids in your hair.

Do use a claw clip.

Don’t use tight ponytails or wear messy buns.

Do dry brush your hair when you brush your teeth.

Don’t brush your hair when it’s fully wet.

Do use a deep conditioning mask once a week.

Don’t use coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, or any other oils that aren’t made for hair.

Do use salon quality shampoo and conditioner.

Don’t follow some trend on TikTok about a shampoo someone loves from Target.

Do use a purple conditioner or conditioning mask if you want to preserve or elevate brightness.

Don’t use a purple shampoo. Ever.

Do schedule frequent trims to keep your hair healthy.

Don’t pull your split ends off yourself.

Do blow dry on medium heat (yes, it’s actually better than air drying your hair!)

Don’t heat style more than twice a week.

Do share these tips with your blonde friends!

DON’T bash their stylist for not telling them these things.

… and there you have it! That’s a small, manageable list, right? Truly… these things take time. Go easy on yourself, but the quicker you can snap into a good hair routine, the better your hair will look in the long run. Make sure you’re protecting your investment at home! This list is perfect for anyone with color treated hair, but especially for highlighted blondes!
